Raid 37 - 20 February 1916

The Raid

Some sources has this raid and the one on Walmer as two separate raids, others as one. They happened on the same day but do not seem to have been linked and were on 2 different parts of the country.
The raid started at 10.50 when 2 bi-planes were seen over Lowestoft. One dropped its bombs and flew off then the other dropped its bombs. The planes were known to be different as they were different colours.

Victims & Damage

no serious damage was done, one of the bombs hit the glasshouse of the 5th Provisional Brigade Headquarters, the Staff Captain and Orderly were both cut by flying glass.

Summary

This is a small raid, only 2 Bi-planes come over and not much damage was done.

Weather – Light wind, weather fine.

Response – The ships in the harbour opened fire on the planes, 5 planes went up but too late to catch the German planes.
