Raid 33 - 23 January 1916

A couple of seaplanes were seen off Dover and then Folkestone where they circled round for a while.

One of the planes then came in over Dover and when fired on went back out to sea where he dropped his bombs.

The other plane came in over Folkestone and dropped 5 bombs on the Naval airsheds at Capel. He then went along to Dover and back over the channel.

Victims & Damage

5 bombs were dropped on the Navel airsheds but no damage was done and no one was injured.

Summary

It looks like the airsheds were the target and the pilot lost his nerve when he was shot at by AA guns.

Response – AA guns were used and 2 RNAS seaplanes and 4 RFC planes went up to intercept the enemy but they did not catch him.
