Raid 32 - 22 - 23 January 1915

The Raid

The plane came over Dover in the early hours of the morning and dropped one incendary and 8 high explosives. 

One of bombs dropped near the garrison headquarters with no damage. 

 

Victims & Damage

The Red Lion Inn and a brewery where wrecked, killing 1 man and injuring one man, one women and three children.

The Dover Express of 4 February reported the coroners inquest, that the man killed as about 43 and worked as a casual labourer. He had lived in the Red Lion for about 8 years. (None of the 1911 census men can be found on the death register)

The Dover and County Chronicle from the 26 February reported that the Skinners who ran the Red Lion didn't have insurance and a donations were being asked for to help cover costs of replacing furniture. 

Summary

This is a very small raid of one plane, 1 man was killed, 1 man, 2 women and 3 children were injured and there was no damage to any military establishments.
