Raid 29 - 13 - 14 September 1915
The Raid
Three airships set off and were seen off the East Coast but only L11 came over land.
The L11 came in and dropped 5 HE and 2 incendiary bombs on Bucklesham. More bombs were dropped at Hemley and Sutton.
After dropping the bombs the airship went back out over Orfordness.
Victims & Damage
A house in Bucklesham which was near one of the bombs had some damage to its chimney and had broken cups and saucers.
Some crops were also damaged.
Summary
The weather meant the raid had to be abandoned.
Weather – Weather was cloudy, with slight rain and mist.
Response – AA guns at Felixstowe opened fire and caused L11 to change course. The low cloud meant searchlights were not able to locate her.
